Japa Privacy Policy
Privacy PolicyWe take your privacy and data security seriously. Japa is an offline-first app. The current version does not require account login and does not proactively collect personally identifiable information. Our core design principle is local data storage. This Privacy Policy explains clearly how we do (and in many cases explicitly do not) process your data.
1 Overview & Scope
OverviewThis Japa Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) applies to all scenarios in which you download, install, access or use the Japa application (the “App”) and explains how we handle and protect your information when providing sightseeing browsing and recording features.
Please note in particular: the current version of Japa does not require any form of account registration or login, and we do not proactively collect personal data that can directly identify you.
We designed this app with reference to privacy frameworks in multiple jurisdictions (including California in the United States, Canada, Singapore, and Australia), in order to provide a consistent and secure privacy experience globally.
2 Privacy Principles & Commitments
PrinciplesWhen designing and operating the App, we follow these core privacy principles:
- Data minimization: We only use device capabilities and data to the extent necessary to implement features and avoid collecting irrelevant information.
- Local‑first: Scenic records, favorites, search history, coin balance and similar data are primarily stored locally on your device, not uploaded by default.
- Transparency & control: We explain, in clear language, what data may be involved and for what purpose, and provide switches for key permissions.
- Security: We take reasonable measures to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, disclosure or tampering.
We commit that, in the current version, you are not required to create an account or bind a phone number / email, nor do we proactively collect identity information through online services. Your in‑app records are generally stored only on your own device and are not remotely accessed or centrally stored by us without your knowledge.
3 Personal Data We Do NOT Collect
We Do NOT CollectIn the current version of Japa, we explicitly state that:
- No account system: You do not need to log in or register with your phone number, email address or third‑party account.
- No online identity profile: We do not create an online identity profile on our servers that can identify you personally.
- No automatic uploads: Scenic records, photos, tags, notes, favorites and other content you create locally are not automatically uploaded to the cloud without your knowledge or consent.
- No use of advertising identifiers for tracking: The current version is not used for targeted advertising and does not collect or use advertising IDs (such as IDFA) for that purpose.
In other words, during normal use of the App, we do not collect personal data for the purpose of identifying you, such as your real name, contact details, social identity or payment information.
4 Local Data We Store & How We Use It
Local‑Only DataTo deliver the core features of the App, we store certain data locally on your device. This data primarily relates to the scenic content itself and app settings and is not used to identify your real‑world identity.
- Storage location: The above data is stored on your device by default.
- Control: You can remove this local data by deleting the app or clearing its data.
Please note: If you uninstall the App or reset your device, local data may be deleted and cannot be recovered. If a future version provides export or backup features, we will explain them clearly within the App.
5 Device Permissions
Device PermissionsTo enable certain features, the App may request system‑level permissions based on your actions. We only use these permissions to the extent necessary for the specific feature and will request your authorization through the OS dialogs.
- Camera (optional): Used to take photos when adding scenic spots. You may decline and still use album or text‑only features.
- Photo library (optional): Used to pick photos from your gallery. We do not read photos that are unrelated to the feature without your consent.
- Location (optional): If you choose to auto‑fill the current location when adding a scenic spot, we may obtain approximate location information via system APIs; otherwise you can input place names manually.
- Notifications (optional): If future versions provide reminder or notification features, we will only prompt you to enable notifications when reasonably necessary.
You can manage these permissions at any time in your device settings. Declining a permission may disable related features, but will not affect your ability to use the main features of the App.
6 Children & Minors
ChildrenJapa is primarily designed for general users with full civil capacity. Since we do not require accounts and do not proactively collect personally identifiable data, the current version reduces the risk of processing children’s personal information as much as possible.
If you are a minor, you should use the App under the consent and guidance of your guardian. If guardians believe that we have processed a minor’s information without proper permission, they may contact us via the email listed at the end of this Policy. We will investigate and assist with resolution as appropriate.
7 Rights in Different Jurisdictions
Jurisdiction RightsEven though the current version of Japa does not create online accounts and does not proactively collect personally identifiable information, we still aim to respect legal rights granted to users in different regions. The information below is for general reference only; the rights available to you depend on the privacy laws in your region.
If applicable laws grant you additional rights, you may contact us via the email in the “Contact Us” section. We will assist in accordance with the laws that apply to you.
8 Data Security & Retention
Security & RetentionWe take a range of technical and organizational measures, within reasonable limits, to reduce the risk of data leakage, damage or loss. However, please understand that no method of transmission or storage over the Internet or via electronic means is 100% secure.
- For local data, we rely on security mechanisms provided by the operating system (such as sandbox isolation and encrypted storage).
- If we introduce online services in the future, we will use encrypted transmission, access controls and other safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.
- We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described, and do not keep it longer than required by law or reasonably needed for our services.
You should also take reasonable steps to protect your device (for example by setting a device passcode, avoiding rooting or jailbreaking, and not installing untrusted apps), so that together we can better protect the security of local data.
9 Third‑Party Services & SDKs
Third‑PartyThe App may integrate third‑party SDKs (for example, image loading, analytics, or map services) or link to third‑party services. Where reasonable, we choose reputable service providers and require them to comply with applicable privacy laws.
Certain third parties may process limited device information or usage data under their own privacy policies. You should review and understand those policies, as your use of such services is subject to their terms.
Where required by law, we will disclose the names, purposes and possible data types of third‑party SDKs and seek your consent when necessary.
10 Changes to This Policy
ChangesAs our business evolves, features are upgraded or laws change, we may update this Privacy Policy. We will display the updated version within the App or through other reasonable means.
- If the update involves material changes (for example introducing online accounts, cloud sync or new data‑processing purposes), we will provide prominent notice.
- Where explicit consent is required by law, we will seek your consent again.
- If you do not agree with the updated Policy, you may stop using the App and uninstall it. If you continue using the App, you will be deemed to have accepted the updated Policy.
